Welcome to yoderroots.com. I am the author and administrator of this site. I hope to expand this site from its current state as geared only toward my own ancestry, to a site where anyone with common ancestors can add their own information. Feel free to email me using the contact link below. Thanks for visiting!

A note on the contents of this site. I began building the family tree contained in this site for my own personal use. As such it includes both my mother and my father's sides of my family. However in my case, only my father has "Yoder roots;" my mother's family was completely unrelated to the Yoders. You may see many Rawies, Ludwigs, and Henke's around, but being on my mother's side, if you are only interested in Yoder history these will not be of interest to you. All visitors with interest in ANY surname on this site are very welcome!

A note on multiple entries for the same person: You may find that this site gives you a statistic that lists the same person two times or more. This reflects a database issue that I am exploring. Some of my ancestors are related to each other in more than one way, and the same people show up in different branches of my tree as I go further back. Some of the entries should have been merged in the database when they were created, but when they weren't they were given separate database identifiers. Databases are not my favorite thing to ponder over and so fixing it has not been a high priority. If anyone is interested in working on this please let me know.

IF YOU HAVE INFORMATION
If you have new information on any person in this tree, please either send it to me (there is a link at the bottom of this page) or, if it is a lot of information that branches off to your own tree, and would like to see it here, please register for an account and learn enough about using the site to start entering things yourself. I will be able to see your changes and review them for approval. If you have information that conflicts with something you see here (for instance, birth and death dates), please let me know by email. I am sure there are some errors and if you can back up your information with a known source, in many cases that would be sufficient to convince me that yours is the information we should use. Especially getting very far back in time, I relied heavily on information from members of ancestry.com who I did not know personally. Judging from the number of people who got labeled as living 110 years or more, I am sure it is not all correct.

**Important note regarding information on Hostetler and Borntrager (Bontrager) surnames:
Errors have been reported to me from members of this line who think I have some bad information. The claims sound authentic to me, and although I have not looked into the matter yet I would advise anyone looking for sources on these names not to rely on my website. Another website which likely contains better information can be found here.

Another great online Yoder resource is http://www.yodernewsletter.org Check it out!
